Plans Announced for 2nd Annual Down East Viking Football Classic

Rocky Mount, NC - Rocky Mount Mayor Frederick E. Turnage and Elizabeth City State University Chancellor Mickey L. Burnim officially announced Tuesday that the Second Annual Down East Viking Football Classic will be held at the Rocky Mount Athletic Complex on October 2, 1999.

This year, the ECSU Vikings will host the North Carolina Central University Eagles in a CIAA conference game that promises to be an awesome contest.

Last year, almost 7,500 fans filled the Rocky Mount Athletic Complex for the first Down East Viking Football Classic. Attendees enjoyed the CIAA football game, the college and local high school bands, and vendors offering a variety of food and merchandise.

The 2nd Annual Down East Viking Football Classic weekend fo festivities will begin on Friday, October 1 and will culminate on Saturday, October 2.

The Schedule of events includes:

Friday October 1

11:30 a.m. - Golf Challenge (Shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.)

4:00 p.m. - Punt, Kick & Pass Competition

8:30 p.m. - Concert "The Supremes" featuring Mary Wilson - NC Wesleyan College Dunn Center

10:00 p.m. - Vikings/Eagles Alumni Dance - Holiday Inn Ballroom - Gateway

Saturday October 2

10:00 a.m. - Pan-Hellenic Fashion Show Brunch - The Rocky Mount Playhouse

4:00 p.m. - Football Classic Kickoff - Rocky Mount Athletic Complex

Post Game - High School Band Competition

8:30 p.m. - Step Show - NC Wesleyan College Dunn Center

10:00 p.m. - Vikings/Eagles Alumni Extravaganza - Gateway Center

Tickets to the game are $12 in Advance and $10 at the Gate
