Benedict hires new coaches

Benedict College has hired assistant football andbasketball coaches.

Danny Lewis, who was offensive line coach at Newberry College, joins theTigers' staff at the same position in addition to being the school'srecruiting coordinator.

Willis "Doc" Beasley, who guided Dundalk Community College inBaltimore, Maryland to the National Junior College championship, becomesa member of the basketball staff.

Lewis, who was also strength and conditioning coach at Newberry, alsocoached at Heathwood Hall. He played football at Charleston Southernbefore transferring to the University of South Carolina.

Beasley, a graduate of Morgan State, was named NJCAA Coach of the Year aswell as Maryland JUCO Coach of the Year this past season. Beasley'scareer record at Dundalk was 157-87 in seven years. His teams have alsowon three state titles.
