| Albany State Names Head Tennis CoachFebruary 10, 2000Albany State University has named a part-time head coach for the women's tennis team, Athletics Director Dan Land announced today. An Albany native, Martha Humber, 34, will direct the newly-formed six-member tennis team, which will play its first match on Feb. 19. Humber is currently a senior account manager at Alltel Communications, Inc. Humber, who has organized United States Tennis Association (USTA) Volvo Team Leagues for the past 10 years, said she is excited about the opportunity to guide ASU's tennis program."It seems that I have played tennis all my life. I love the sport and have a deep appreciation for tennis," Humber said. "I am thrilled to have been selected to coach the women's team. Albany State has been without a tennis team since the mid 1980s, so it will be challenging to bring back a tradition to Albany State." Humber is a member of the Pine Forest Racquet Club in Albany.The Lady Rams Tennis Team will make its' debut in Albany on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. against the Tigerettes of Tuskegee University. ASU's home matches include Fort Valley State University on March 3, Savannah State University on March 18, Morris Brown College on March 27 and Clark Atlanta University on March 29. The Lady Rams will host Kentucky State University on April 8. ASU will play at home matches at the tennis courts on campus. 200 Tennis Schedule
