
Florida A&M's women were the story of the meet, winning the title in a romp with 144 points. Norfolk (Va.) State placed second (92) with South Carolina State (63) and BethuneCookman (60) third and fourth.
The win for Florida A&M completed a conference trifecta as the Rattlerette thinclads of coach Bobby Lang won the league's cross country and indoor titles this school year, while winning their third straight outdoor title.
Hampton's men won their first title in three tries, outpointing Chesapeake Bay area rival Norfolk State, 131 to 103. Host Florida A&M was third (93), while Delaware State finished fourth (58).
FAMU's Shaunta Pelham was the outstanding female performer scoring 20 points, while Hampton's James Carter was the outstanding male performer, scoring 36 points.
Bobby E. Lang of FAMU won the outstanding women's coach, his eighth award and 15th overall (including seven men's coaching honors), while Hampton's David Boyd won the outstanding men's coach award.
