The popular tight end was fatally injured early Monday morning when his jeep flipped on the inner loop of the Beltway near Kenilworth Avenue in Bowie, according to police reports.

The computer science major from Lanham, MD (Eleanor Roosevelt) joined the Bulldogs in 1998 after spending a year at Frostburg University, and was well-liked by his teammates and coaches. He was used primarily as a blocker and had one catch for 19 yards during the season. He was a computer science major and had finished his final exams last Friday and was planning to move out of his dorm on Monday.

"John was a good kid who played hard and always did what we asked of him," said offensive coordinator Larry Archie. "He always gave it his all and he was a person you could depend on. This is a big blow to the team and we will all miss him very much."
