Street & Smith's Productions gets favorable court ruling

August 11, 2000

CHARLOTTE, NC - Street & Smith's Productions, Inc. (SSP) has announced a favorable court ruling that allows then to retain its broadcast and marketing rights to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) football and basketball games. An arbitrator will help decide the dispute.

On Thursday, August 3, 2000, Judge Graham C. Mullen of the U.S. District Court in Charlotte, North Carolina issued a preliminary injunction in a case which SSP brought after the SWAC attempted to terminate its broadcast and marketing contract. The ruling enjoins the SWAC from seeking to terminate the contract unilaterally, from doing anything which "might tend to interfere with or impair" SSP's rights to SWAC football and basketball games, and from telling third parties the contract is terminated. In making his ruling, Judge Mullen found a "significant likelihood" that SSP will ultimately prevail against the SWAC. The dispute now heads to arbitration for a final decision.

"We are gratified by Judge Mullen's decision, and we believe it provides strong support for our position," said Thomas P. Grabowski, President and CEO of SSP. "Right now, we are working hard to help the SWAC have a successful 2000 football season," Grabowski added.

Street & Smith's Productions, Inc. is located in Charlotte, North Carolina and specializes in sports programming. Through its production facility, the company produces and delivers programming to BET, FOX, ESPN, Speedvision, TNN, HTS and syndicated television stations nationwide.
