Morehouse Men, Fort Valley Women win SIAC Cross Country TitlesOctober 26, 2000Albany, GA - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference(SIAC) held its annual Cross Country Championships in Albany, Georgia Thursday (Oct. 26). In men's action, the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College won the men's championship with 15 points, Albany State's Golden Rams finished in second place with 67 points, and the Wildcats of Fort Valley State finished in third place with 83 points. Morehouse College swept the first six places led by Christophe Irumva who finished the five kilometer course with a time of 27:24.00. Fort Valley State's Lady Wildcats claimed the women's championship, finishing in first place with 26 points. The Lady Rams of Albany State came in second place with 46 points while the Lady Panthers of Clark Atlanta University finished in third place with 74 points. Vernika Reeves of Fort Valley State broke the tape first, finishing the three kilometer course with a time of 21:40.00. This was the first SIAC cross country title won by the Lady Wildcats.
