Six HBCU Women and Four Men's Teams Regionally Ranked in Division II

The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women's Basketball Committees have released the first week’s Division II basketball regional rankings. Ten teams in each region are ranked.
 HBCU's made up 10 of the 40 men's and women's teams listed in the Atlantic and South Regional Rankings. The CIAA had five teams ranked (four women and one men) and the SIAC had four ranked teams ( two women and two men). West Virginia State was the tenth HBCU to be ranked.
The regional rankings are released weekly on Wednesdays through March 3, 2010. The final ranking determines the eight teams to advance to regional playoff competition.
