Lane 20, Stillman 18

October 18, 2008

TUSCALOOSA, Ala--The Stillman Tigers were unable to overcome a key special team's injury as they fell 20-18 to Lane College at Stillman Satdium on Saturday night. A third quarter leg injury to starting kicker Peter Obradovic forced Stillman (2-6, 1-5 SIAC) into a series of two-point conversion attempts--the first of which following a three yard touchdown run by Quinn Porter in the fourth quarter. The Tigers then failed on the two-point conversion attempt, trailing 13-12 with just over eight minutes to play.

On the ensuing possesion, Lane quarterback Sherard Ellis found daylight on a 52-yard touchdown scamper that increased the Stillman deficit to 20-12. Then, a late Cedric Harris to Kenny Brown 36-yard touchdown was diminished as Stillman again failed to convert on the following two-point attempt, missing a chance to tie the game at 20 with just under three minutes to play.

Porter finished 82 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Brown's late fourth quarter touchdown catch--giving him 14 for his career--made him Stillman's all-time leader in touchdown receptions.

Stillman netted 318 total yards in the game and converted 18 first downs. Lane's Sherard Ellis was 12-for-18 with 80-yards passing, while also gaining 119 yards on 17 rushes including one touchdown.

Stillman will travel to face Benedict in Colombia, SC this Saturday. The Tigers' next home game will be Saturday Nov.1 against Morehouse.
