Fayetteville State 23, Virginia State 13

Fayetteville State University mounted a 99-yard drive midway in the fourth quarter to send the Broncos to a 23-13 win over Virginia State University in Rogers Stadium in Ettrick, Va., on Saturday night.

FSU's 14-play drive began after VSU's punter, Robert Dunham, had buried the Broncos on their own one-yard line with the score 17-13 in favor of FSU. Fayetteville State converted on third downs twice during the drive which sealed the win.

VSU's Taron Hampton rushed for 142 yards on 21 carries while VSU quarterback Leonard Johnson passed for 176 yards.

The loss dropped VSU to 2-3 on the season and 1-1 in the CIAA.

Fayetteville State remained undefeated in the CIAA at 2-0 and 4-1 overall.
