Saint Paul's 66, Saint Augustine's 64

January 6, 2009

Lawrenceville, Virginia - The Saint Paul's College Tigers win their first CIAA conference game of the season as they redeem themselves against the Lady Falcons of St. Augustine's College, 66 - 64. Last weeks CIAA Player of the Week, Tatiana Ellis scores a game high 24 points as the Lady Tigers overtake St. Augustine's in the final seconds of the game.

The Lady Tigers go in at the half with a 10 point advantage over St. Augustine's 28 - 38. Quickly out the gate in the second half, the Lady Falcons rally behind freshman center Keyonna Bryant as they close the lead of the Lady Tigers and tie the game at 64-64 with less than a minute left to go.

Leading the Lady Falcons with 19 points and 8 rebounds, Bryant's hustle was just not enough to keep the Lady Tigers down. Sparked behind Tatiana Ellis' 24 points and Juantale Cook's last second bucket to take the lead, the Lady Tigers withstand the pressure and walk away with a victory.

Juantale Cook finished the game with 18 total points on 7-15 shooting. Tatiana Ellis led all scorers with 24 points and four rebounds.

The Lady Tigers continue their home stand as they take on the Virginia Union University Lady Panthers on Saturday, January 10, 2009. Game time is slated for 2:00 pm.

The Lady Falcons host Livingstone Thursday (Jan. 8) at Emery Gymnasium. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
