Alcorn State 58, Jackson State 55

JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State women's basketball team overcame a ten point haltime deficit to pull to within two points of the Alcorn State Lady Braves, but fell short in its comeback Saturday night at the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

Alcorn State defeated Jackson State 58-55 in SWAC women's action.

Erlexis Cooper recorded a double-double in the losing effort, as she finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Cooper also had two blocks in 25 minutes of play. DeQuisha Davis was the only other Lady Tiger to score in double-digits as she finished with 10 points and three assists.

Brittany Myatt led Alcorn State with 12 points and four assists. Corneshia Hollis scored 10 points and pulled down four rebounds.

ASU led 28-18 at halftime. JSU outscored Alcorn 37-30 in the second half, but it was not enough.

JSU will return to action Monday, Jan. 12 to face Southern in SWAC action at the Lee E. Williams AAC. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
