Fayetteville State 99, Lincoln (PA) 49

Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville State (6-4 overall) kicked off its second half of the season by defeating the Lady Lions of Lincoln (PA) 99-49 in Capel Arena. Five Lady Broncos scored in double figures while FSU out-rebound LUP 51-34 and scored 53 points off turnovers. Erica Gilley, Muriel Seabrooks, and LaQuasha Jordan led the team with 12 points each. FSU led 51-21 at the half as the starting five averaged a total of nine minutes of playing time.
The Lady Broncos opened the game with a 12-0 run and had an easy 16-point lead (20-4) at the 11:09 mark. With 8:13 remaining in the first half, Head Coach Eric Tucker sent in the second string to work on their game. Three of the starting five finished the game in double figures. L’Oreal Price and Danielle Russell scored ten points along with Gilley, who had a dozen.
Muriel Seabrooks, a freshman forward from Wilmington, NC, and LaQuasha Jordan, a transfer sophomore from Greenville, NC, helped the Lady Broncos bench score 52 points. Although the team shot 42.9% (39 of 91) from the floor, FSU snatched 23 offensive rebounds for 25 put-back points. The Lady Broncos had 21 steals while forcing 38 turnovers.
Freshman guard Sharay DeBose led the Lady Lions with a career high 22 points. She scored 16 of her points in the second half and sank three 3-pointers from more than 24 feet away. Tanina Cook finished with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. The Lady Lions shot 29.5% (18 of 61) from the field and had 13 offensive and 21 defensive rebounds.
Fayetteville State will travel to Richmond, VA on Tuesday, January 6 for its second matchup with Virginia Union University. The Lady Broncos are on a three game winning streak.
