St. Augustine's 74, Lincoln (PA) 74

RALEIGH, NC – Lincoln (Pa.) University gave Saint Augustine’s College a major scare Saturday (Jan. 10) in Emery Gymnasium, but the Falcons held on for a thrilling 75-74 win for their ninth straight victory. The Falcons won nine consecutive games for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Junior guard Steven Brignol (Brooklyn, NY) came off the bench to score 17 points for the Falcons (10-4), who led 75-70 with four minutes left but the Tigers (2-9 overall) finished with a 4-0 run. The Falcons escaped with the victory when Darren Clark of the Tigers missed a layup with three seconds left.

Sophomore forward Shaun Washum (Norfolk, Va.) added 14 points, junior guard Chris Jordan (Houston, TX) scored 13 points and junior forward Ethan McNary (Norfolk, Va.) scored 10 points for the Falcons.

Damian Hyman scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half to help the Lions erase a 12-point deficit. A 23-6 run put the Lions ahead 59-54 at the 10-minute mark but the Falcons responded with a 21-11 run to regain the lead at 75-70.

The Falcons visit Elizabeth City State University in a CIAA match-up on Tuesday (Jan. 13). Game time is 7:30 p.m.
