Benedict College releases 2008 Football Schedule

[Columbia, SC] The Benedict College Athletic Department has announced its 2008 football schedule. The 11-game schedule features nine conference games, two classics and two non-conference contests. Five games will be played at Benedict’s Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.

The Tigers will open up with the 7th Annual Palmetto Capital City Classic against Morehouse College on August 30, 2008. The Classic pits the BC Tigers against the Maroon Tigers in a conference match-up. Kick-off is set for 4:00 p.m.

The Tigers travel to Orangeburg, SC on September 6 to face-off against the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University a Division I-AA institution from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The start time for this contest is 6:00 p.m. On September 13, the Tigers will remain on the road pounding the grid-iron against 2007 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Champions, Tuskegee University in a 1:00 p.m. CST match-up.

On September 20, at 6:00 p.m., its back home at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium as the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne College travel to Columbia for a non-conference match-up with the Tigers. The following week, September 27, the Tigers host conference foe Albany State University Golden Rams at 6:00 p.m.

Over the next three weeks the Tigers will be on the road in three conference match-ups. October 4, in Birmingham, AL against the Blue Bears of Miles College at 2:00 p.m., October 11, in Jackson, TN at 5:00 p.m. against Lane College Blue Dragons, and October 18, in Fort valley, GA at 1;00 p.m. against the Wildcats of Fort Valley State University.

The Tiger homecoming game will be played on October 25, at 2:00 p.m. against the Tigers of Stillman College. On November 1, the BC Tigers will host the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University in a 2:00 p.m. kickoff from Charlie W. Johnson Stadium. The Tigers will conclude their regular season on November 8, while traveling to Augusta, Georgia in a neutral site conference match-up. For the second year, the Tigers will meet the Panthers of Clark Atlanta University in the Central Savannah River Area Classic (CSRA).
