Lincoln (PA) releases 2008 Football Schedule
March 29, 2008
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. – Five home games and contests against eight CIAA schools highlight the 2008 Lincoln University football schedule.
The Lions begin their first season since 1960 with a home game against George Mason University on Saturday August 30 beginning at 1:00 p.m. Lincoln will play all of its home games at Avon Grove High School in West Grove, PA, a short six mile drive from the Lincoln campus. Following an away game under the lights at Southern Virginia University on September 6, Lincoln will host Fayetteville State University on September 13 in a non-league game that will count towards the overall record of each school, but not the CIAA league standings.
Lincoln will play the first of its seven regularly scheduled CIAA contests against reigning Western Division champion Shaw University in Raleigh on September 20. Lincoln will also travel to face reigning Eastern Division champion Virginia Union University on October 11. The Lions’ Homecoming game will be against Elizabeth City State University on October 18, Lincoln’s only home game in the month of October. The Lions conclude their regular season schedule with a home game against Saint Paul’s College on November 1.
“I feel good about our schedule,” Lincoln coach O.J. Abanishe said. “We have some great teams on our schedule, but I expect us to be very competitive. Overall, we’re looking forward to beginning.”
The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania football team will give its fans a prospective on the upcoming season when the Lions hold their intrasquad Blue-and-Orange spring football game on Saturday April 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Avon Grove High School.
Before the intrasquad contest, the Lions football staff and team will conduct a mini-camp at 11:30 a.m. for kids ages 7-12. Also, the Lincoln University “Orange Crush” Roaring Lion Marching band and cheerleaders will perform throughout the game. There will be plenty giveaways and surprises during the game and fans will have an opportunity to meet members of the football team after the game.
There is no cost for admission and parking to the Spring football game.
