Texas Southern releases women's basketball coach

Texas Southern University has announced the release of head women's basketball coach Claude Cummings.
 In his fifth season as head coach, Cummings had led the Lady Tigers to an 8-16 record this season. He leaves with four games remaining having compiled an overall record of 34-100.
A national search is set to begin immediately while assistant Shiakiea Carter leads the team through the end of the regular season. TSU has already been eliminated from participating in the SWAC Tournament.
