Cathy Parson released as Howard women's basketball coach

In a statement released today, Howard University has announced the Cathy Parson will not return as head women's basketball coach.

"All of us in the Howard family recognize and are appreciative of the contributions that Cathy
Parson has made to our program and our institution,” said Director of Athletics Dwight Datcher. “She and her student-athletes
have always represented Howard with great class and dignity, and we wish Cathy nothing but the
best as she transitions to her next opportunity."
Parson had coached the Lady Bison for eight seasons with a combined record of 96-127. This year Howard finished 4-26 and was eliminated in the first round of the MEAC Tournament.
Parson becomes the fourth MEAC women's basketball coach to resign or be released this year.
