Virginia State 30, Livingstone 7

Salem, VA - Virginia State University (2-2 overall, 1-0 CIAA) scored 16 unanswered points in the first quarter of the Eight Annual Western Virginia Education Classic held in Salem, VA on their way to a 30-7 victory over Livingstone College (0-4, 0-1 CIAA).
On the opening possession, VSU advanced the ball 56 yards and nailed a 31-yard field goal by Justin Parker to put the first points on the board.
After the Trojans forced the Blue Bears back to their own nine-yard line, LC punted short giving VSU possession on the Livingstone 15-yard line.
Four plays later, Parker nailed his second field goal from 27 yards out to give VSU a 6-0 lead. The Trojan defense put points on the board when Donte Edwards picked off a Steven Williams pass at the 24-yard line and returning it untouched into the endzone for the 13-0 lead.
With 2:54 remaining in the first quarter, Parker hit a third field goal for 42 yards to put the Trojans up 16-0 at the end of the initial period.
VSU extended its lead to 30-0 at halftime when QB Michael Terry connected on a 4-yard TD pass to Davian Richards and followed with a 20-yard strike to Antoine Morton at the 1:44 mark of the second quarter.
Livingstone scored the only points of the second half came when Steven Williams connected on a 15-yard pass to Donte Day at 12:28 of the third quarter to cut the Trojan lead to 30-7.
VSU's Nick Fleming was named Offensive MVP with a total of 135 net rushing yards. LC's Lionel Vincent received the Defensive MVP for having 12 total tackles and a fumble recovery for 15 yards.
Livingstone will celebrate its homecoming next weekend against Fayetteville State in the confines of Alumni Memorial Stadium. Virginia State will host Elizabeth City State University in Petersburg, VA.
