NCCU's Brown tops class of 2006 CIAA football rookies

HAMPTON, VA-North Carolina Central University quarterback Stadford Brown tops a list of freshman voted to the 2006 CIAA Football All-Rookie Team, as selected by the CIAA Sports Information Directors’ Association.

Brown, a graduate of Dunbar High School in Washington, DC has been tapped as the 2006 CIAA Rookie of the Year after leading North Carolina Central University to their second consecutive CIAA Football Championship appearance. The Eagles just wrapped up the first perfect season (10-0, CIAA 7- 0) in the 83 year history of their football program with Brown emerging as one the conferences’ elite passers. He leads the CIAA in passing yards per game (209.9) and touchdowns with 24 scores thrown in 2006. His 24 touchdowns are currently tied for the most in a single season in NCCU Eagle history. This past season he was voted CIAA Rookie of the Week six times with his top performance coming versus Bowie State with 291 yards and four touchdowns. Brown will lead the Eagles against Elizabeth City State University Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium in Durham, NC
