”We appreciate what Coach Hardy has done for our baseball
program here at Savannah State,” said athletic director
Robert “Tony” O’Neal. “We will continue
to recruit quality coaches at SSU in order to continue the
success of our baseball program.”
Hardy accepted the head coaching position with SSU on December
21, 2005. In his lone season, the team finished with a 30-19
record, including a 10-2 win over Division I power Florida
State University. The Los Angeles, Calif., native was a three-year
letterman in baseball at Grambling, receiving his bachelor’s
degree in Computer Information Systems and his master’s
degree in Sports Administration.
“I had a great time here at Savannah State University,” Hardy
said. “I appreciate the opportunity Dr. Brown and Mr. O’Neal
gave me to coach on the Division I level.”
SSU was Hardy’s first Division I head coaching experience.
Prior to joining SSU Hardy’s head coaching resume included
stints at Division III Olivet College and NAIA Talladega College.
SSU will launch a nationwide search immediately to identify
a new head coach for Tiger baseball.
