UMES Athletics adds three new administrators

August 21, 2006

PRINCESS ANNE, MD - Keith Davidson, Acting Director of Athletics of the University of the Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), has announced the addition of three new administrators to the Athletics Department staff. Joining the staff as Assistant Director of Athletics for Budgeting & Fiscal Operations/Senior Woman Administrator is Sharon Brummell. Neema Connor assumes the post of Compliance Director while Danita Mendez-Townsend joins the Hawks as Coordinator of Student Athletes.

Sharon Brummell is no stranger to UMES as she will begin her eighth season as Head Women's Bowling Coach this fall. During her tenure, the Lady Hawks have won two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) bowling titles (2000, 2006) and qualified for the NCAA Bowling Championships every season since 2003, the inaugural year for the event. Brummell has been employed by the University since 1996 and previously served as an accountant in the Vice President's Office.

Connor was named Compliance Director on July 1. Prior to being named to the position, Connor worked in several capacities for the UMES Athletic Department and most recently served as Assistant to the Director of Athletics. She holds a bachelor's degree (2001) from the University of Pittsburgh and master's degree (2003) from UMES.

Mendez-Townsend comes to UMES from the Worcester County Public School system where she served as an English teacher and guidance counselor.
