In his new capacity, Mr. Wilson will spearhead the marketing and development efforts for DSU athletics programs and oversee the university’s sports media relations. Mr. Wilson began his new post with DSU on Aug. 21.

Mr. Wilson brings a wealth of experience from his 1994-2006 tenure with the U.S. Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colo., in which he held director posts in Marketing, Media and Public Relations, Community and Alumni Relations, as well as the Olympic Visitor Center.

Prior to his Olympic Committee years, Mr. Wilson also served as a sports information/marketing director at North Carolina Central University (1991-93), an assistant sports information director at Southern Methodist University (1989-91), sports information director at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore (1988-89), and assistant sports information director/head facilities director at Florida A&M University.

Chuck Bell, DSU athletics director, said Mr. Wilson is a great addition to the Department of Athletics. “I am very excited that we are bringing an expert in marketing, development, and media relations from the U.S. Olympic Committee,” Mr. Bell said. “I am confident that his experience will be instrumental in the continued expansion of DSU’s sports programs’ fans and supporters base.

For Mr. Wilson, it is a welcome return to the Mid-Atlantic region where he previously attended school and worked. “I am extremely happy and proud to be a part of the DSU team,” Mr. Wilson said. “I know that there is an opportunity to do great things and I am definitely up for this new challenge.”

Mr. Wilson has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration/Marketing and Mass Communications (dual degree).
