inaugural Black College Preseason All-America

HOUSTON -- Preseason Players
of The Year Tuskegee quarterback Kevin Huff (SIAC) and Hampton
linebacker Justin Durant (MEAC) headline Black
Athlete Sports Network's (BASN) Inaugural Black
College Preseason All-American team.
 The SIAC's 2005 Player of the Year, Huff was
chosen as Preseason Offensive Player of The Year.
In 2005, Huff led the SIAC in passing with 2,797 yards and
15 touchdown passes thrown. He also rushed for 771 yards
and 13 touchdowns.
Durant, BASN's choice for Defensive Player of the Year is
a three-time MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and was a finalist
for the Buchanan Award in 2005.
He led the MEAC in total tackles (124), averaging 10.3
per game, was tied for the team lead in sacks (5.0) in
2005 and finished second in tackles for loss (15.0).
Durant's head coach, Joe Taylor, is BASN's
choice for Coach of the Year. In 15 seasons at Hampton,
Taylor is 109-41-1. The Pirates are attempting to become the
first MEAC team to win three straight league crowns since South
Carolina State won four straight from 1980 to 1983.
