Virginia Union
14, Livingstone 12
September 16, 2006
Virginia Union University's defense shut out a stubborn
Livingstone College team as the Panthers collected their
second straight win 14-12 in Hovey Field on Saturday.
VUU's Raymond Cherry recovered a Livingstone fumble
early in the fourth quarter while teammate Stephen Johnson
jumped on another Blue Bear fumble later on. Then
with time running out, VUU's Henry Tolliver intercepted
a Livingstone pass to ensure the win.
VUU quarterback Lamar Little shined again on offense,
hitting 9 of 19 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns.
The win raised VUU's record to 2-1 overall and 1-0
in the CIAA. Livingstone fell to 0-4 overall and
0-1 in the CIAA.
VUU now readies itself for a matchup against Johnson
C. Smith University on September 23 in Hovey Field. The
Golden Bulls were idle this week, after having lost to
Bowie State 14-13 last week.
