Presbyterian 7,
Fayetteville State 6

Fayetteville, NC – Fayetteville
State University and coach Kenny Phillips still have
their woes against the South Atlantic Conference teams
and Saturday's contest was no different as Presbyterian
edged the Broncos, 7-6. After battling
tooth and nail for three quarters, Blue Hose quarterback
Mitch Doolittle found Justin Durant open for a six-yard
touchdown pass with 14:50 on the clock to put an end
to FSU's upset bid over 11th ranked regional
team.
For nearly four quarters it looked as if the Broncos
were going to prove the pollsters wrong. Jonathan Autry
engineered a three-play, 55-yard drive with a 35-yard
pass to receiver Charlie Nieves to take a 6-0 lead. The
kick by Eric Lamourex was blocked and the score remained
in favor of the Broncos until early in the 4th quarter
when Doolittle's pass ended all dreams.
Carl Stevenson's kick was good but and offside penalty
gave FSU new life. His second attempt was also good and
out went the lights.
