The MVSU-ASU volleyball game aired live on
ESPNU was on fire as the Devilettes took each
game by storm against the Lady Hornets. The
first game the Devilettes started off a little
slow, but they picked up the paced and took
the win 30-24. The Devilettes didn’t
have a problem in the second game as they took
an early 24-4 lead, before eventually winning
30-11.
During the third game the Lady Hornets tried
to make a come back but MVSU was to hot for
them, and the Devilettes took the game 30-15
to extend their win streak to 19.
“It feels very good to have your first
national televised game where you win and you
beat a team that is obviously a very good team
in three games,” said MVSU head coach
Alyse Wells-Kilbert. “I think we came
out a little slow and as we warmed up to the
idea that we were on national television we
began to play our game. We had some very good
blocks and that’s not normally what our
team does well. Blocks really played a part
in us winning big tonight.”
The Devilettes (19-1, 4-0 SWAC E) were lead
by hitters Ashley Robinson, Falon Holinaty,
and Alyssa Knaus.
Robinson a junior from Memphis, TN. lead the
Devilettes with eleven kills and three digs.
Holinaty a junior from Regina Beach, SK Canada
helped with seven kills, while Knaus a sophomore
from Lanigan, SK Canada added seven kills and
nine digs.
MVSU will be back in action on October 18th
in Jackson, MS when they square off against
the Lady Tigers of Jackson State at 7:00P.M.
