Curry, a computer science major, is a graduate of George Washington High School in Philadelphia. Curry, the Wolves top receiver, caught 33 passes for 584 yards including 4 touchdowns, averaging 17.7 yards per reception and 53.1 yards per game.

Curry is slated to be a three sport athlete for the Wolves. Since the football season ended last week, Curry has been getting acquainted with his new teammates on the hardwood. The Wolves open the basketball season on Friday, November 18 against West Virginia State at the Millersville Tip-off Tournament. This coming spring, Curry is expected to be a member of the track and field team. During his high school days he competed in the triple and high jump.

Five Wolves, including Curry, received post season honors from the conference coaches. Jamar Johnson, Brandon Hawkins and Tyree Cooper were all 1st team PSAC East selections. The trio, all defensive standouts, anchored the Wolves defense that ranked second in the PSAC East against the pass. Johnson, a defensive end from Capitol Heights, MD, ranked among the conference leaders in sacks. He recorded 54 tackles, seven of which were tackles for loss. He also recovered two fumbles and was credited with 61 yards in return yardage. Hawkins, from Brandywine, MD led the Wolves in tackles with 105, including 15 tackles for loss. Last year, Hawkins, a middle linebacker was the Wolves only 1st team selection. Cooper, a sophomore safety, ranked second on the team in tackles with 74. He was also the Wolves return specialist. Cooper (Piscataway, NJ) averaged 15-yards per kick-off return and 9.1 yards per punt return. He was a second team all conference selection a year ago.

Linebacker Brandon Roberts was named 2nd team All-PSAC East. Roberts, a junior from Dallas, Texas and graduate of Skyline High School, led the Wolves with four interceptions for 41 yards. He also led the team in break-ups. On the season, Roberts recorded 42 tackles.

The last time Cheyney placed more than five student-athletes on the all conference teams was in 2003. However, that season Cheyney’s six selections were all named 2nd team.
