Mississippi Valley State Announces
2006 Football Schedule

Itta Bena, MS --- With the accomplishments of the 2005 football
season still fresh in mind the Mississippi Valley State Athletics
Department announces its 2006 football schedule.
The Delta Devils will once again open their season in Chicago,
IL and face the Golden Lions of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on September
2nd in the Chicago Football Classic. They will remain on the
road the following week when they travel to Baton Rouge, LA
to take on Southern University, September 9th. Valley will
return home September 16th and host Alabama A&M in their
home opener, before traveling to Jackson, MS to play Jackson
State on September 23rd.
The Delta Devils will finish off the month of September in
a first time meeting with Concordia College on September 30th.
This will be tabbed Family, Community, High School and Take-A-Kid-to-the-Game
Day.
The month of October will find the Delta Devils hosting defending
Southwestern Athletic Conference champions Grambling State
on October 7th. They will then hit the road and travel to Fargo,
ND to face for first time North Dakota State on October 14th.
"We're pleased with the composition of our football schedule
for 2006," said MVSU Director of Athletics Lonza Hardy
Jr. "In addition to our traditional SWAC opponents, we've
added two new opponents in North Dakota State and Concordia
College. Both of those games should add to the excitement of
a season which should be challenging and rewarding.”
The Delta Devils will remain on the road and travel to Houston,
Tex. on October 21st to face Texas Southern, before playing
host to Prairie View A&M on October 28th for Homecoming
2006.
Valley will bring in the month of November at home when they
welcome Alcorn State to town on November 4th for Hall of Fame
Day. They will then wrap up regular season play traveling to
Montgomery, AL to play Alabama State on November 11th.
The Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship game will
be played on December 9th in Birmingham's Legion Field.
"We anticipate kicking off our season ticket campaign
in May," added Hardy. "With the high expectations
everyone has for this year's team, we believe our fan base
will increase significantly. It should be a great season all
around for us."
