NC A&T announces five home football games
April 21, 2006
GREENSBORO The North Carolina A&T
football team has an extra opportunity to take advantage of
playing inside Aggie Stadium in 2006. The Aggies will play
five home games this season instead of the usual four home
games played in the last three years, and seven out of the
last 10.
The Aggies have won nearly 60 percent of the 120 games played
at Aggie Stadium since the facility opened in 1981. “It’s
a tremendous advantage for us anytime we get the opportunity
to play in front of our fans,’’ said first-year
coach Lee Fobbs. “We love having that 12th man in the
stands at all times. We’re excited about playing in front
our fans, and I know our fans are getting excited too.”
One of the Triad’s largest events, N.C. A&T’s
Homecoming, is scheduled for Saturday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m.,
against Howard University. Also among the home dates is the
return of Winston-Salem State to the Aggies schedule. Although
the two campuses are approximately 25 miles apart, the Aggies
and the Rams have not faced each other in six seasons. On September
2 that will change as the two teams are scheduled to kick off
at 6:30 p.m.
After the September 2 match-up with the Rams, the Aggies
don’t return home until October 7 when they clash with
conference foe Morgan State at 1:30 p.m. Following the Homecoming
game, the Aggies invite Florida A&M back to Greensboro
for a November 4 meeting between the two teams. The Rattlers
have not played in Greensboro since 2003. Rounding out
the Aggies home schedule is a 1:30 p.m., game with Elon University.
The 2006 meeting will mark the eighth straight year the Aggies
and the Phoenix have played.
