Frankfort, KY – Kentucky State University uses its
special team’s performance by, Marcus Wright to a 28-0 victory
over Central State. Wright, a 5’11, 175 lb. senior, gained 175-yards
on three punt returns, which included a 78-yard touchdown return (7:13/1st/Qt.).
Wrights other returns include a 38 yard return in the second quarter
and a 59 yard return in which, Wright, should have scored, but he ran
out of gas at the CSU-14.
CSU, who the Breds have not played since 1994, gained 200 yards in total
offense on 53 plays and KSU, gained 272 yards on 54 plays.
Penalties controlled the momentum of the game. KSU was penalized nine
times for 85 yards and CSU was penalized nine times for 59 yards. KSU
fumbled three times and lost one. CSU fumbled 2 times and lost one, which
lead to, Roni Robinson scoring on a 9-yard run with 10:03 on the clock
in the first quarter.
Brandon Adams scored KSU’s next TD on a 34-yard pass from senior
quarterback, Shawn Johnson with 5:09 in the 2nd/Qt. Cassius Chambers
closed out the scoring on a 3-yard run with 13:12 remaining in the game.

Darren Sims, a 5’11, 255 lb linebacker lead the Breds defensively
with six solo tackles and one assists and QB hurry.
The win raised KSU record to 2-2 and CSU dropped 0-3…
KSU will travel to Morehouse this week to take on the Maroon Tigers
in a 7:00 pm kickoff in Atlanta.
