Stillman 34, Lincoln (MO) 3

TUSCALOOSA, AL --- The Stillman College Tiger football team secured its first winning season in two years Saturday evening, by beating the Lincoln University Blue Tigers 34-3 at Stillman Stadium for the homecoming game. Stillman finished the 2005 campaign with a 6-4 overall record. The Tigers have not had a losing season since 1999. With the loss Lincoln falls to a 3-7 mark.

The Tigers saved their best performance for the last game of the season, as the defense gave up 120 total yards (3 rushing and 117 passing) and the offense recorded 298 total yards (154 rushing and 144 passing).

The Lincoln Blue Tigers got on the scoreboard first as Gerardo Cornejo made a 44-yard field goal at the 8:09 mark in the first quarter. The score capped an 11 play, 36-yard drive. From that point on Stillman controlled both sides of the ball.

At the 5:53 mark in the first quarter Charles McCullum scored a touchdown on a 9-yard run. Kevin Flemming's extra point kick gave Stillman a 7-3 lead. Early in the second McCullum again used his legs to score a touchdown. This time he covered 50-yards before reaching the end zone. The Tigers scored two more times in the second. On a Lincoln fourth and 12 from their own 38-yard line Sylvester Campbell blocked and returned a Cornejo punt 25-yards for a touchdown. Flemming's kick gave Stillman a 21-3 lead.

On the ensuing possession Denatay Heard intercepted and returned a Kevin Patrick pass 33-yards for the touchdown. Flemming's kick increased Stillman's lead to 28-3 with 8:53 remaining in the half. The Tigers scored the final points of the game with 14:00 remaining in the third quarter when McCullum connected with Phillip Bryant for an 18-yard completion.

McCullum led all rushers with 54 yards and 2 touchdowns. Torey Nelson led Lincoln with 24 rushing yards. McCullum also recorded a game high 140 passing yards and a touchdown, completing 8 of 17 attempts and 2 interceptions. Patrick led Lincoln with 90 yards, completing 8 of 18 attempts and an interception. Lincoln's Eddie Pertilla led all receivers with 4 receptions for 28 yards. Brett Kimble led Stillman with 2 receptions for 16 yards.

Stillman's Harvey Logan led all defenders with 9 tackles. Irving McGuire and Larry Albert followed with 7 tackles each. Alex Johnson led the Blue Tigers with 7 tackles.
