wins first MEAC Bowling Title

LAUREL, Md. - Bethune Cookman, led
by Ta-Sheika Green, won their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
Bowling Title with a pin total of 10,217 at the 2004 MEAC Championship
in Laurel, Md.
Green, who led all bowlers with a total of 1,985 pins was named the MEAC
Outstanding Performer.
"I didn't play well in the beginning of the season," said Green "I knew
I could play better and this week it showed."
B-CC led Maryland-Eastern Shore by 187 pins going into the Baker games,
the final event of the championship. UMES tried to stage a come back
outscoring the Lady Wildcats 935 to 853 in the Baker, but that was not
enough. Bethune-Cookman finished first in the singles and team events
and took second in the doubles event.
The Lady Hawks finished with a pin total of 10,112 to finish in second
followed by, Morgan State (9,604) at third. North Carolina A&T, the
three-time defending champion, finished fourth with a pin total of
9,402. Howard (9,359) rounded out the top five.
Sarah Circle of the Bethune-Cookman finished second in the individual
competition with a pin total of 1,899 followed by two Lady Hawks in
Megan Raymond (1,801) and Jessica Worsley (1,735) and Lady Wildcats Sara
Driver (1,726).
B-CC's Artis Davenport was named Outstanding Coach. "I'm satisfied we
won, but we have a lot of things to work on," said first year head coach
Davenport.
Bethune-Cookman will try to continue their success the rest of their
season as they look to make the NCAA tournament in March.
