Savannah State picks B-CC Assistant as next

DAYTONA BEACH , Fla. -- Bethune-Cookman College Associate Athletic Director
of Compliance/Student Support Services Tony O'Neal has been named the Athletic
Director of Savannah State University.

O'Neal has served as the Compliance Director at B-CC since
2000. During his tenure, the Wildcats have totaled 17 championships.
O'Neal has also been the coach of the B-CC women's bowling
team since its inception in 2003.
"I am so happy for Tony and his family," said
B-CC Athletic Director Lynn Thompson. "It is a great
opportunity for him. We appreciate everything he has done
to help improve B-CC's athletic program and he will be missed."
O'Neal has nearly 10 years experience as a compliance director
and senior level athletic administrator, serving four years
as Assistant Director for Compliance at Florida International
University in Miami . He has served as Associate Director
for Compliance/Academic Services at Delaware State University
and has served on several NCAA committees, including Peer
Review, Lifeskills Coordinator and the Leadership Conference
Selection Committee.
In the summer of 2002 he was selected to attend the NCAA
Leadership Conference.
Recently, O'Neal graduated from the 2003 NCAA Fellows Leadership
Development Program and was chosen as the commencement speaker
for the graduating class.
