On his first official day on the job, Grambling State University
president Horace Judson has dismissed Albert Dennis III as
Director of Athletics.
“In making this change, it was not the intention to
diminish the contributions made by Mr. Dennis during his
longtime tenure here at the University,” said Judson. “However,
at this time, I felt it necessary to make the change so that
we can move quickly in finalizing plans for the upcoming
athletic season."
Dennis was appointed AD in November, 2000 after serving
as interim AD for the previous 10 months. A 1972, GSU graduate
and former pro football player, he had served three years
as assistant athletics director prior to replacing Robert
Piper, who stepped down due to illness.
Dennis’ replacement will become only the fifth athletics
director in school history.
