(MO)'s Brown finishes fourth in Olympic 4X400 relay

Running in her first Olympic Games, Lincoln (MO) University Blue Tiger track
star Shandria Brown and her teammates finished fourth in the finals of the
400 meter relay today in Athens, Greece. Brown, a senior sprinter who is a
7-time national champion, ran for her home country of the Bahamas. Running
the third leg, her team ran a time of 42.69 seconds. Jamaica won the gold medal
with a time of 41.73 seconds. The US team failed to finished the race.
LU President
David B. Henson, when notified of Brown's placement
said, "We certainly
are proud of Shandria running for her country as well as for her school, but
I am proud of her individually for accomplishing a goal that she set out for
herself. It is an honor she has achieved and should be proud of."
LU track
head coach Victor Thomas added, "Shandria does what she did best and that was
run her best every time out. I am extremely proud of her about what she did
and how she performed today. I am looking forward to coaching her this upcoming
season."
Brown will return to the school next week following the closing ceremonies
that will be held on Sunday. She will be looking to become a 3-time national
champion in the 100 and 200 meter dash, as well as the 4X100 meter relay.
