Seventh Edition of Classic Features Two NCAA Division II Teams from the South

SAN DIEGO - Two exciting NCAA Division II football teams, Clark Atlanta University
Panthers (Atlanta, GA) and Stillman College Tigers (Tuscaloosa, AL), will meet
in the 2003 Gold Coast Classic Football Game on Saturday, November 15, 3:00 p.m.
at Qualcomm Stadium. The game annually pits two Historically Black colleges against
each other on the gridiron. The seventh edition of Southern California's Black
College Football Game, presented by the San Diego African-American Sports Association,
is the culmination to a weeklong celebration of events and festivities held throughout
the City of San Diego.
The Gold Coast Classic has a grand history of close contests, with four of the first six games being decided by a touchdown or less. 23,427 tickets were sold to the 2002 game, the second-highest figure in Classic history.
Tickets for the 2003 Gold Coast Classic, priced at $15, $20 and $25, are available now at the Gold Coast Classic ticket office located at 1727 N. Euclid Avenue or by calling Ticketmaster at 619-220-TIXS. To honor Southern California's military, police and fire personnel, a special $10 ticket price for field level seats is available with a valid ID. Specially priced tickets must be purchased at the Gold Coast Classic ticket office.
A variety of events surround the game including Media Day, which will be held after the Celebrity Golf Tournament on Friday, November 14, at the Riverwalk Golf Club in Mission Valley. Media Day is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. with Gold Coast Classic organizers and members of both teams available for interviews.
The $125 tournament entry fee includes 1/2 cart and green fees, range balls, tee gifts, custom golf shirt and the awards luncheon. The tournament, which has a 7:00 a.m. shotgun start, is open to the public.
The USS Belleau Wood will host the bands of both schools for a reception and tour of the ship on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m., before they attend the most popular event leading up to the game, the Step Show and Battle of the Bands Show. The high-energy and entertaining contest will be held at the Coors Amphitheater on Friday, November 14, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $12, $15 and $20.
Prior to Saturday's game at 10:00 a.m., the Brooks Huffman Gold Coast Classic Parade featuring the marching bands from both schools along with dancers and cheerleaders will take place at Imperial & Euclid Avenues.
