Allen comes to Tennessee State from Mississippi State University
where she had served for five years and was the recruiting
coordinator for Coach Sharon Fanning’s program. The 15-year
coaching veteran also assisted the program with on-court and
practice duties in addition to her recruiting obligations.
The new Lady Tiger coach joins the program in time for the
summer recruiting period. She will be on campus on a full-time
basis later this summer.
Allen joined the Mississippi State staff during the 1998-99
season and made an immediate impact with the program, helping
the Lady Dogs to a first-ever NCAA appearance.
Prior to her tenure at Mississippi State, Allen served two
years as a sports regional manager for Converse, Inc.
Before her brief break from coaching, Allen served four years
as head coach at Saint Louis University, where she helped in
the rebuilding of the Lady Billiken program. She has also served
as recruiting coordinator at Kansas State and was as an assistant
coach and recruiting coordinator at Drake University.
Allen began her full-time coaching career with a one-year
stay at George Washington University (1986-87) after serving
in a graduate assistant¹s role at her alma mater, East
Tennessee State from 1984-1986. While earning her B.S. degree
from East Tennessee State in physical education, Allen was
a four-year letterwinner during a stellar collegiate career.
She is a member of ETSU’s 1,000-point club.
A Culpeper, Va., native, Allen captained the Culpeper Senior
High School girls basketball team to the Virginia AA State
title. She earned All-Virginia and high school all-America
honors.
Active in charity and community events, she is a member of
