Grambling
State Names New Sports Information Director

Grambling ---- Peter Forest has been hired as the new sports
information director at Grambling State University. Among his
many duties in this new position that began July 1 are the
dissemination of all athletic-related information and maintenance
of statistical data.
Forest comes to Grambling after spending the previous five
years as the director of sports information at Alcorn State
University in Mississippi, and completing a four-year stint
at Alabama
State University. He is also a former freelance writer for
the Associated Press
The La Place, Louisiana, native earned his bachelor’s
degree in liberal studies (broadcasting) from Southern University-Baton
Rouge 1991. While at Southern, he was employed as a student
assistant, and was promoted to student director of information
for women’s sports information. He was also associate
sports editor with The Southern Digest.
Immediately following his graduation, Forest accepted an internship
with the Southwestern Athletic Conference Office in New Orleans,
Louisiana, while serving as a freelance writer for the L’Observateur
newspaper in La Place.
In 2002 he received the Elmore (Scoop) Hudgens Lifetime Sport
Information Director award from e All-America Football Foundation.
A past chairman of the SWAC Sports Information Directors Committee,
Forest is a member of the College Sports Information Directors
of America (CoSIDA) and the Black College Sports Information
Directors Association (BCoSIDA).
