Tucker, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)
will conduct its 2004 Spring Championships in Columbia, SC. Eleven member institutions
will compete for championships in men and womens’ track and field, baseball,
men and women’s tennis and women’s softball.
Benedict College will serve as host for the occasion.
“This is the first time in Benedict College’s history that we
have hosted the Spring Championships”, said Benedict Athletic Director
Dr. Willie Washington. “We are excited about the event and we are preparing
for the member institutions to compete in South Carolina.”
According to a release from the SIAC office, spring sports have been a part
of the conference since 1913.
“All schools within this immaculate conference serve as beacons of light
to their neighborhoods and communities,” said SIAC Commissioner William
E. Lide. “We uplift them as we continuously strive for excellence.”
