Voorhees Men and Morris Women Win EIAC Cross Country Championships

Red Bank, SC — The Tigers of Voorhees College, Denmark, SC,
and the Lady Hornets of Morris College captured the Eastern
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 2002 Men and Women Cross
Country Championships. The victory was the sixth consecutive
men’s title for Coach Frank Hyland of Voorhees College. The
Tigers had five of the top ten runners led by freshman Peter
Mukwevho from South Africa, freshman Hasan Abdul-Haqq from the
Barbados, and senior Dannon Lindley from Atlanta, GA.
The Lady Hornets of Morris College who were the conference bride’s maid the last two years finally jumped the broom to first place. Morris was led by four freshmen, Malinda Amilca from Brooklyn, NY; Lucy Foot, from Swainsboro, GA; Ralaska Hoover from Jacksonville, FL: and Samantha Keeby from Claxton, GA who finished 2nd, 10th 11th and 12th, respectively.
