Albany State Lady Rams to compete in volleyball regionals

The Albany State University Lady Rams, who captured their second
consecutive Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC)
volleyball title last week, will make their second appearance
in the NCAA South Central Volleyball Regional Tournament this
week. The tournament is hosted by Washburn University in Topeka,
Kan.
Ranked sixth in the South Central Region, the Lady Rams will play
third-ranked University of North Alabama Lady Lions (29-4) on Thursday, Nov.
21, at 4 p.m. (Central Standard Time). Number five Harding University (29-6)
will play number four Central Missouri State University (24-8) at 6:30 p.m.
The winner of the Albany State/North Alabama game will play number two
Truman State University (24-8) on Friday, Nov. 22, at 4 p.m., and the winner
of the Harding/Central Missouri State game will play number one Washburn
University (29-4) at 6:30 p.m. Winners of the semifinals will advance to the
championship game on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. The regional tournament
winner will advance to the Elite 8 on Dec. 5-7 at a site to be determined
later.
The Lady Rams advanced to the regional tournament by defeating the Paine
College Lady Lions, 3-0, in the SIAC championship game. The Lady Rams upset
Paine by winning all three games with scores of 30-18, 30-23 and 30-24 in
the final match.
The Lady Rams enter the tournament with 20-12 overall and 12-0 SIAC
records.
