March 29, 2003
- The SIAC formally
introduced new commissioner William Lide at a press
conference, Friday, in Atlanta. Dr. Lide comes to the conference office from
the University of Central Arkansas where he was Director of Athletics. He
succeeds Robert Vowels, who left to become Commissioner
of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

- Johnson C. Smith's Marco Spears and Bowie
State's Tim Washington have been named NABC Division II All-Americans.
Spears was selected to the second team while Washington was a third team
selectee.
Washington and St. Augustine's Patrick Pope made the Daktronics
Division II All American Team. Washington was picked for the second team while
Pope made
the third team.
- Central State's Kelly Adams and Dillard's
Theresa Samuelshave been named First Team NAIA All-Americans in
women's basketball. Joining them on the team are Teaira Harrison of
Central State (3rd Team) and Cynthia Hogg of Langston (Honorable
Mention).

Compliance Coordinator
- Pairings have been announced for the NAIA Division I men's
basketball tournament in Kansas City Missouri.
On Wednesday, March 26, Dillard (LA) (13-18)
will meet Houston Baptist, at 2:15pm and Jarvis
Christian (18-16) takes
on McKendree (IL) at 8:45pm.
Thursday, Southern-New Orleans (22-4) faces Reinhardt (Ga) at
10:45am and Barber-Scotia (25-8) meets Westminster (UT) at 2:15pm.
Winners will advance to the second round on Friday, March 28.

- Pairings have been announced for the NCAA Division
I men's and women's basketball tournaments.
SWAC men's champ Texas Southern gets first
dibs, facing UNC-Asheville in the opening round game,
Tuesday, March 18, in Dayton. The winner will face
top seeded Texas as the #16 seed in the South Region,
Friday in Birmingham..
MEAC men's champ South Carolina State
is seeded #16 in the East Region and will meet #1
seed Oklahoma, Thursday, March 20, in Oklahoma City.
SWAC women's champ Alabama State
will face top seeded Tennessee in the Mideast Regional,
Saturday, March 22, in Knoxville. ASU will be making
its first-ever appearance in the tournament and enters
as the #16 seed.
MEAC women's champion Hampton was
seeded #15 in the West Region and will face #2 Texas,
Sunday, March 23, in Cincinnati.
