NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk State Athletics Director Orby
Moss has received a contract extension through the year 2008.
Moss, who is also NSU’s Assistant Vice President for
Student Affairs, has held the AD position at the school since
1999.
“Norfolk State’s future in athletics is very bright.
It has been no secret that NSU’s step up to Division
I provided many new challenges,” Moss said. “But
NSU has made significant strides in getting up to speed with
compliance and competition in the MEAC. Our staff is now comfortable
with this new level of play, but we must continue to grow.
“With the football team under new leadership, and the
success of our men’s basketball coach last season, we are getting the quality coaching necessary
in all our sports which will enable us to finally compete successfully
in all sports in the MEAC.”
Moss, who received his bachelor’s degree from Wisconsin-La
Crosse and his master’s from Winona State University
in Minnesota, has also served as athletics director at Georgia
State, North Carolina A&T, the University of the District
of Columbia (Division II), and Siena Heights College (NAIA).
“There are still many things that need to be accomplished
in this program, Moss said, “and I fully expect that
the Spartans will be a leader in the MEAC similar to their
past position in the CIAA.”
