Norfolk
State, Viacom Sports Marketing Announce Construction of Video
Board At Price Stadium
June 3, 2003
NORFOLK, Va. — Viacom Outdoor Sports Marketing will
begin construction later this month on a $400,000 Opto Tech
LED video display board at Norfolk State University’s
William “Dick” Price Stadium.
The display board, which was paid for by Team Spartan Corporate
Partner Coca-Cola, will be displayed at the east endzone of
the football stadium. It will be used to show crowd and field
action shots, pre-recorded messages and interviews, and has
the capability to display instant replays.
The board will be up and running in time for Norfolk State’s
home football opener, the Labor Day Classic with Virginia State
on August 30.
The board will be approximately 14 feet high by 19 feet wide
and have a resolution of 37,632 pixels. The 16-bit processing
capability of the Opto Tech video processor allows for a total
of 281 trillion possible colors, translating into better color
control for more exact color matching on the display board.
