June 25, 2003

Greensboro, NC – The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman College were predicted to win it all again in 2003 as the league’s Sports Information Directors and Head Football Coaches determined with their preseason voting.

The Wildcats won last season’s MEAC title only losing one game in conference play. They finished the season 11-2 overall (7-1 MEAC) and were also tied for 12th place nationally in the USA Today/ESPN Poll. The Wildcats return the reigning MEAC offensive player of the year, Allen Suber. The Wildcats also return 2002 All-MEAC 1st team defensive lineman Steve Baggs. All-MEAC 2nd team Running back Brad Lee is also back for the Wildcats along with Linebacker Jamal Muhammad, also All-MEAC 2nd team.

The Hampton University Pirates finished second in the voting with 206 points. Rounding out the top three was the Morgan State University Bears finishing with 170 points.
