Valley State Formally Announces Search for New Football Coach

Fort Valley State University, a member of the Southern Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference and an NCAA Division II member, is seeking
applications for the position of Head Football Coach
Responsibilities: The Head Football
Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for
daily management and administration of all phases of a Division
II football program in accordance with all NCAA, SIAC and University
regulations. Specific areas of responsibility include:
Practice and game preparation
Supervision of assistant coaches and support staff
Recruitment of prospective student athletes
Oversight of budget
Scheduling travel
Monitoring academic progress and graduation of student athletes
Maintaining a positive relationship with media, fans, student
athletes, general student body, supervisors, administrators,
the public and alumni
The successful candidate may have additional duties including
teaching activities and assignments made through the Athletic
Director.
Qualifications:
Master's degree required
Previous successful coaching experience
Teaching experience
Knowledge of NCAA rules and guidelines
If not NCAA certified, must pass NCAA Coaches Certification
Test within three weeks of being offered the position.
The successful candidate should possess a positive attitude,
a strong commitment, and the ability to motivate, teach, counsel
and recruit academically and athletically qualified student
athletes. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success
in program development and the ability to promote campus, alumni
and community support. It is imperative that the candidate has
the ability to work and communicate with students, faculty and
staff.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications
and experience
