Morris Brown College Appoints Renee Breedlove as Women’s Basketball Coach
Men’s Basketball adds Two Assistants
August 29, 2002
Athletic Director Russell Ellington has announced Barbara Renee
Breedlove as the new Women’s Head Basketball Coach at Morris
Brown College. After having three head coaches for the women basketball
program in less then two years, Ellington looks to add a sense
of stability to the ladies program as they enter year three of
NCAA Division I Basketball.
Breedlove, a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, has accumulated
a record of 103-124 over a ten year span at the high school, junior
college, and four year college level. She is not a stranger to
the Atlanta community, as she has had coaching stints at Fulton
County’s Creekside High School (47-35), Dekalb County’s
Tower High School (17-5) as well as at Atlanta Technical College.
With a track record of turning around every program that she has
been involved in, the Wolverine family looks forward to her continuing
the trend.
Breedlove's staff was completed with the additions
of Darryl Watson from Mississippi Valley State, and Jerome Rowland
former Wolverine basketball player and volunteer coach for the
2001-02 men’s team at Morris Brown.
Men’s Coach Derek Thompson also completed his staff with
the additions of former Globetrotter great and former Morris Brown
Sports Information Director James “Twiggy” Sanders
and Cleveland State graduate Gravelle Craig.
