Samford 20, Morris Brown
Bulldogs Bury Morris Brown's Homecoming Hopes

(Atlanta, GA) - Morris Brown (1-7) loses Homecoming with a 13-point deficit to the Samford University Bulldogs. Samford dominated the line of scrimmage allowing MBC to gain zero net rushing yards and 174 total, while gaining 376 yards from the line of scrimmage themselves. The Bulldogs, who average 25.2 points per game, were held scoreless by the Wolverine defense until 6:14 left in the 3rd quarter.

Morris Brown, again plagued by the offense's inability to take care of the ball, had five turnovers including two interceptions in the red zone. Xavier Butler's 73 yard kickoff return was capped off by quarterback Kalley Young's 10 yard scramble to the end zone, pulling the Wolverines within seven. Morris Brown was unable to take advantage of a 13-yard shanked kick by Bulldog punter Ty Neil that left them starting the drive at the 50-yard line. Quarterback Ramon Nelson led the Bulldogs with 208 total yards, 146 passing and 62 rushing.

Defensively, Torres Mozley and Lemuel Mullins led the Wolverines with 10 and nine tackles, respectively. Highlighting the Bulldog defense was Robert Evans, with 12 tackles (9 solo), and Darold Williams, who collected 3 sacks.

Morris Brown will be back in action on November 2nd as they take on the Morgan State University Bears. Game time is set for one o'clock in Baltimore, Maryland.
