Albany State 40, Tuskegee 20

The Albany State University Golden Rams upset the Tuskegee University Tigers, 40-20, breaking an 11-game winning streak and a 16-game home victory streak.

ASU’s quarterbacks Marcus James and Warin Major passed for 304 yards and three touchdowns to up ASU’s record to 3-3, 2-1.

Tuskegee scored first on a 60-yard Ramon Nickerson interception return, but a missed PAT held the Tigers to a 6-0 lead. In less than a minute, ASU took the lead when Clenton Rafe caught a 91-yard pass from James and a good PAT from freshman Adrian Arango.

Terrence Jones led the Tigers with 372 passing yards, including two touchdown passes to Kylin Kimble to give Tuskegee a 20-7 early in the second quarter. Tuskegee would not score again.

James connected with Edward Harper on a three-yard pass to score and Arango’ s 31-yard field goal brought the Rams to within three points. ASU scored again on a two-yard rush by Major with 10:33 in the third to give the Rams a 24-20 lead. And the Rams never looked back. The Rams scored 16 additional points, including a safety and Major’s 52-yard pass to Kerenski McGhee late in the fourth quarter.

Albany State garnered 409 total offensive yards and the Rams’ defense allowed the Tigers 354 total offensive yards.
